An all new Grand Crü: introducing Composition No.3

At this year’s European Coffee Symposium, we’ll be showcasing the latest seasonal Grand Crü blend: Composition No.3 for the out of home market. Master sommelier, Ronan Sayburn, has once again lent his expert palate to help develop the latest blend, the third since our partnership began in 2016.

The blending has been developed with the combined knowledge and expertise of Ronan and Gayan Munaweera, our head of coffee quality and Q grader. The composition is a blend of Guatemala Rio Dorado, Tanzania Usongwe and Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Adado, each coffee having an industry recognised SCAA International Quality Score of 80+, giving the blend true speciality status and an incredible flavour.

Gayan Munaweera, says: “These three coffees were chosen for their individual quality and incredible flavour when blended together. Each of the coffees has its own unique attributes and notes, but together they truly shine. Our new composition has flavours of melting Belgian chocolate and golden syrup tinged with malt, accented with a clean rhubarb sweetness and the crisp acidity of picked red grapes.“

Ronan adds: “The flavour of a coffee is greatly affected by the environment in which the bean grows and the way it’s processed, much like a grape for wine. Every time I work with UCC Coffee, it makes me appreciate the artistry and choice in coffee more. It’s been great working with Gayan once again on this latest composition, and I couldn’t be happier with how the blend has come together.”
